[BL] Feronix goes ITX

Nicely done fella, pretty much the opposite to what I did with the KFA2s

Saweeeet. Looks great dude !

Looks awesome dude

Thank you guys very much! :D

Made a backplate for the GPU in the past 2 days, very easy to do and a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

Measured the GPU at the top and the side that's not the I/O side.

Jigsaw cut through the MDF like a hatchet through my latest vic- wait what?

GyOsHMK.jpg

Bit of sanding to make it smooth.

Perfect fit.

Rounded corners.

White paint.

Cause I run an ITX system and so my motherboard only has one PCI-E slot right near everything else, I had to make cutouts for the RAM slots and the motherboard rear I/O. Stupid that I didn't think of this before I put paint on, but oh well.

Some careful taping and drawing.

And some black paint on there.

Half the masking tape removed.

More masking tape added.
At this point my green spray paint can decided to malfunction, so I had to use a brush to put the green on.

Looks okay though, there were a couple spots where it had leaked but I was able to scrape them off with a razor very easily while keeping the white paint intact.

Feels so weird putting double sided tape on a PC. Not a natural thing to do I guess :p

Top job Rick, should make the back plate into a dedicated thread its an excellent alternative and great mod idea. Kudos.

Wow, I'm really not a fan of white builds... but your GPU just catched my eyes so fast. Lovely and awesome work dude! :)

You're really killing that star wars theme :p

......damnit

Cracking work on the GPU dude. V nice!

great work dude.

Thanks guys! Glad you like it :D

Thanks mate, I might do a little guide thread if I can be bothered at some point this weekend. They're a bit chunky so impossible to use in sandwiched SLI configs, but there's plenty room if you have an empty slot between them. In motherboards with the 16x slot at the very top you'll just need to make some cut-outs for certain stuff.

It's a very cheap way of doing it though, the MDF I cut that backplate out of cost me €4.49 and I could easily get 20 backplates out of it  Just got to wait and see now how well in handles heat of the system.

Im really impressed by the way it turned out, almost makes the use of Ultra Grass worth the wait :D

Thank you dude! Almost? ;)

Keeping up the daily build log updates, even though I'm extremely busy with other stuff today; I received my new side panel that's probably necessary with this new GPU in there seeing as it isn't a reference design and will probably run a bit hotter than the 760.

The issue with GTA IV is that it can't comprehend a world where GPU's have more than 2GB of VRAM, because R* like AMD realize that GPU performance is not related to the quantity of available memory at all. If you remove all of the memory chips from your card except one and just solder over them you will be able to clock the remaining IC to over 9000MHz on it's own which give you an effectively infinite amount of memory.

Erm, well the first part of that was true and this is the fix - https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145206-Issues-with-GTA-IV-showing-video-cards-with-over-2GB-as-under-spec

Side panels for everybody! it's the cherry on the icing dude and completes your rig perfectly.

Thanks, that helped!

Now runs max settings with ICEnhancer at around 30 FPS. Forgot what a e port this was  Might take ICEnhancer off though, it's not THAT good.

Ooooooooh, she's not done just yet ;)

(Sorry about no image rezise, Imgur is being very dodgy. I'll re-upload photos later today)

Fixed my dust filter a bit yesterday. Looks and works a bit better now.

Also removed the logo from the front panel.

The green is so difficult to photograph in the light I work in :(

Oh look, the logo has dried :)

Well, yes and no.

The reason I put that on is because there was not really anything I could mount a finer meshed material to. With this glued on there (still waiting for it to dry really well) I can easily attach something to this while it will keep it in place nicely and not really restrict any airflow. Maybe I can make it a removable dust filter as well.

I've got an old broken bookshelf speaker in the attic. I'm thinking I can use the front of that as the actual filter :)

Bad news,

There's a hole in my side panel :(

Some old school modding going on at my house today.

The I/O PCB comes out easily with three screws down the middle.

This is horribly out of focus, I do apologize.

Masking tape to allow drawing and protect the panel.

Using the other (vented) panel to make the window line up perfectly and give a good view of the components.

O0DaG3c.jpg

Did have to stop it 7 holes from the left to leave room for the I/O. It's just empty space in the case there anyway.

Holey side panel batman! nice clean modding dude, love it.

Thanks! A window was much needed. Despite the quote in my signature (that was an actual reference to my PC not having a side panel window while I put all this time and effort into making it look pretty), I want to show off the inside of the PC a bit :D

Did some more filing and sanding of the metal today and then took the tape off the panel.

fcFYEvH.jpg

Screwed I/O back in for a test fit.

IWbTsQD.jpg

Nicely shows off the important bits. Nothing more, nothing less.

(I did push that black cable down after taking the picture)
O2JBzPH.jpg

That is a tight gap to fit the window between but I reckon it'll do...

BtfkHxa.jpg

... cause it even fits at this funny angle. Or is this not how you install a side panel window?
