Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Just bought myself a new i5 4670k for £150, my new build is progressing nicely and below budget :).

So after getting fed up with Razer once and for all I decided to get rid of it all, Now my brother works in germany and in his line of work he gets great discounts on hardware, He's in the music industry, So he can get something like a company discount in certain places, I'm not too sure how it works I just know I can take advantage of it :P

So while I was in Germany last week I was looking around and saw the German company Roccat, Tried a few things and wanted them immediately and got a nice "Company Discount" ^_^

So far I got -

Kone XTD 8200 DPI
Ryos MK Pro With Black Switches
Kave 5.1
Alumic Mouse Mat

And I also needed a new soundcard so I picked up the Sound Blaster ZX which compared to the Phoebus I had not too long ago is a step above IMHO, And lastly I picked up 4 Corsair 120mm AF Quiet Edition Blue LED fans.

I still have to replace the green and black braided cables with all Bitfenix black versions and 16GB *4x4* Avexir Blue strobe effect 2400MHZ memory which is all in the mail :)

*Sorry about the quality of the pictures but the lens of my camera is on it's last legs*

You finally saw the light.
Roccat make decent stuff, i didn't know they are based in germany.
I don't really like LED fans, they light up the case too much. I prefer solid color fans, the colors look much nicer and a barely lit case usually looks a lot cleaner and sexier.

One of the reasons I went with them to be honest, Their HQ is in Hamburg, You can really feel the difference of quality, Never again will I touch a non German made peripheral, The quality oozes from them :)

The lights from the fans are actually a lot better looking and less visually intrusive it's just that my camera can do this rig no justice at all sadly :(

Roccat founder and CEO René Korte actually worked for Razer as a vice president in Europe in the past and decided to get out, I cant blame him personally, After having been a bit of a Razer nut in the past I can attest to their stupendously overpriced products.

I know their products are good but i never heard anyone actually praise them. There was always a complaint or two.
Don't fall back into old patterns mate.

Don't worry I wont but they have a higher build quality than Razer for sure and as far as complaints go, As long as there are people there will be complaints ^_^

I suppose so.
Well, having higher quality standards than Razer isn't hard to accomplish
Back when i got my Sensei Raw i was considering a mouse by Roccat as well and i was already having it in my cart before i reconsidered and got the Sensei Raw instead. Didn't regret my choice but i would've loved to test it.
I think it was the Kone+

what made you change away from razer? I know someone who changed because "they're not as good as they used to be. They're starting to turn into an egotistical, form-over-function company that have stopped innovating and instead are just looking for new ways to make more money from their fan-base".

Wasn't that their base principle from the very beginning?

Holy crap this is HUGE news, Dicehunter dropped Razer like a stone.

Welcome to the light side dude!!

I love my roccat :) nice to hear you're enjoying it! I don't think much to their cans but that's cuz I went higher end and gaming headsets don't really push my buttons anymore. But hot diggity this is a step in the right direction :P

Well for me it came down to build quality, The Tiamat 7.1 headset I had was about £160, I tested the Roccat Kave which costs around £70 and the sound was better, It felt a lot sturdier and has that heavy quality feel but doesn't hurt your head after long hours of gaming where as the Tiamat really started to hurt after a while even though it was a lot lighter.

The same goes for the rest of their products, Great for the first few months but the paint finish on them started to wear off quite quickly and in the end when I had other brans to test just felt a lot inferior.

One thing that really annoys me about Razer is their CEO, He calls people ignorant hipsters if they don't like his products and calls them overpriced.

Roccat as far as I'm concerned are the shizznitss and at the top ^_^

You realise I get to say I told you so a lot now? I've been saying this ALL ALONG about razer!

I'll be good... kinda.

I INFORMED YOU THUSLY!

Gotta be honest; When I first got my Kone [+] it had this annoying thing where after every couple of lines of scrolling down, it would automatically scroll a line back up which was quite annoying.

Since that has solved itself somehow, I absolutely love this mouse. I've been using it for 2 years now and the next one is going to be Roccat again. Although I did hear that the new mice (XTD and such) are a bit smaller than the Kone [+], that isn't sold anymore, which is a bit disappointing.

Navigating the web with the EasyShift button though... :D

Never tried them but when I get a chance I will :)
Its the only company I know in which the cheaper headsets sound better . I have their top of the range "Commander" headset (7.1,which is plug and play with a usb audio thing but still has headphone/mic cables) and their cheaper headset, the 780 ( 7.1, USB,needs drivers to work, honestly was expecting it to be the other way around). The audio in the 780 is alot better. Oh and its more comfortable. The only thing the 780 isn't better with is the microphone quality. Which is still much better then corsair's higher priced headsets. Or Asus'. In terms of peripherals I've never had a massive loyalty to any company, I mean my keyboard is only a Microsoft Sidewinder x4 and my mouse is some weird tecknet fancy gaming mouse so I've not dived into anything high end. I get through headsets the quickest and with the exception of plantronics stuff I've been a bit disappointed (I've had Asus, Corsair and one razer headsets) .
