Hmm... either a x800GTO or x1600XT would be your best bet on that one I suppose...

does it have to be ati? I would have said a 6800 would outperform the x800, not sure bout how it compares to the x1600 tho

Well, I'm pretty sure at least a 6800GT (thus, also a GS and a 7600GT) is able to beat the x1600XT in most tests. So, another possible route is to stretch another 10 to get yourself a 7600GT.
Edit: ah, you posted just a touch ahead of me. Well, I suppose your best bet would be a x1600XT I suppose then. Just a little slower than a 6800GT/GS/7600GT. I would say HIS for the cooler or Sapphire for the price
Edit2: Wow, looking at reviews the margin between the 6800GT/GS/7600GT is much larger than I remembered... If you're willing to risk nVidia one more time, I would definately try to stretch for the 7600GT

3D Mark 05 (note it is an x1600 PRO rather than XT, retail around £80)
benchmarks done by myself^
I would not advise overclocking an x1600 too much as they get stupidly hot

X800GTO's unlocked eat 6800's for breakfast.
I reccomend the Sapphire Radeon X800GTO2, Dave.

X1600XT. Along the lines of a 6800 and beats the 6600GT which you had before .
Edit: X800 may seam tempting but its not a SM3 card if i remember right, and theres no point in getting one that isn't now IMO.
