Be very careful when u swallow the cookies that manufacturer slides throw out to u.

We can all think back to the release notes of nVidia drivers coming out with "30% increase in CoD4" "40% increase in SomeGame2" - the figures are bllx. If it were true, there would be gigantic fps gains. If u have 100fps, u'd expect 130fps - which u won't get.

Intel/AMD used to play the same game. U don't see them do it so much tho.

Manufacturer slides are designed to make for warm and gooey crotch areas and for generating sales.

It'd be a terrible thing if we all fell for a sales pitch on the back of %age gains over previous generations, including the competition's previous gen, only for that competitor to release their new cards with slight embarassment.

I fell fort the hype of the 4870 last year and bought one. Thinking it was better thasn my 8800GTX I bought one. I was wrong and sold the 4870 three weeks later and bought a GTX 280. I swore offATI for a few more years after that and I almost fell into that trap again here. I will wait for NVidia.

nearlly double the texture fillrate and more then double pixel fillrate

and 2160Gflops thats nearlly double the original, so i think these benchmarks are valid

Just be carefull following the corporate stuff.

An OC3D bench-torture ofc would be acceptable

Win7, Dx11, and a Dx11 from both camps - that's going to be something to behold.

All the comparisons to previous generations don't mean much. Especially from the people who's job it is to sell the stuff.

Hmmm. Considering you can get a 275 to OC to 285 levels easily, and they only cost 150, it's not the huge leap really from those figures.275 in SLI @ 285 clocks would probably beat it for the same money.

But with that you have 3 issues;

Heat, power and compatability.

2 cards will be hotter than 1, 99% of the time.

2 cards will draw more power than 1, 99% of the time.

An SLI setup won't perform as good as a Single GPU in older / unoptimized games.

Also, with your point brings another argument, you can overclock the 275 to 285 performance? You can overclock the 285 for even more performance... You can overclock the 5870 to higher levels, for the same money.

Could be a long wait, a chip with the die size of the GT200 at 40nm has all the potential to become a nightmare.

I dont care. ATI might be leading now with thw 5870 but I would kicking myself if I bought a 5870 and NVidia brought out a GPU that whooped its ass two times over. I can wait. My GTX280 will do me for now and if that dies I still have my 8800GTX.
