But with that you have 3 issues;
Heat, power and compatability.
2 cards will be hotter than 1, 99% of the time.
2 cards will draw more power than 1, 99% of the time.
An SLI setup won't perform as good as a Single GPU in older / unoptimized games.
Also, with your point brings another argument, you can overclock the 275 to 285 performance? You can overclock the 285 for even more performance... You can overclock the 5870 to higher levels, for the same money.
