1000D has image stabilisation on the stock lense and also has fast focus with the USM (Ultra Sonic Motor) lenses

Even without a USM my 1000D locks on in about 3/4 of a second to almost everything.

One of my friends uses a canon, and having used it, I much prefer my dads sony.

If you read reviews, sony always come out very well. Things you have to consider:

Built in Image stabilisation (no matter what lens you use, you will get this, whereas canon you need to spend more on lenses)

Built in Auto-focus (essentially, auto focussing will always be fast, rather than varying with different lenses)

I actually think Sony's produce a better image, although I've not used a canon for a couple of years, my dad did try an a100 and Canon something, found the a100 much nicer..

Sony also make sensors for nikon, so they obviously arent that bad :P

I'm obviously a bit of a sony fanboy, but they are lovely.

LOL make sure it is actually charging. I left the Mamba on what I thought was charging and went out for a few hours. Came back home expecting it to be charged and it hadn't even started
