People Using Virgin 20MB XL Package - In here

Hi People,

Just thought this might be handy for people using older modems with your current 20MB XL internet service.

http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html...vice_20MB.html

Go there, and enter details, and you get a new modem (suggesting you have an old one in the first place).

Cheers,

BloomerzUK

Nope, sorry.. but it best be better than my Motorola SB5100. Been using that since atleast 2002.

Anyone think there will be a realistic speed gain if I get a newer modem?

I'm also using that modem and still get full speed so it's unlikely. I think this is aimed at the people on the really old ones.

What speed are you getting at the moment? Download and upload?

I get 2.3mbps down and 90kbps up. The upload is swag.

the old modems were proper crappy, new ones aren't fantastic either, you get what you pay for with virgin and....well..... theyre free

also, any virgin adsl customers on here who have not recieved anything since the old thompson devices you can swindle a nice new DG834G v5 out of us

I'd say so. A member on another forum says he applied for one and got a Scientific Atlanta 2100.

Did this kinda thing off my own back over the phone with them a while back.

Thought it be tricky for the old 3com to handle the comms, plus it was only something like 64bit encryptable.
