OMG COMPUTER SHORT Damage done?

Ok heres the scene, Computers on i find that my fan has become unplugged :S weird!,

Now what this fan was connected to was one of those fan pin connectors that connect on to a molex plug well i went to grab the pin cable (connected toeh molex) and it accidently touched the Mobo Tray causing a SPARK!! and my computer to shut off!

Has this done any damage to my computer!?

Never play with your internals when its powered up.

Does it reboot?

If not try psu fuse.

still no..... check the board and components for scorched caused by arcing.

Check for cosmetic damage

Check to see if it posts

Check to see if it boots

Bench/stress the crap out of it til your happy its stable.

Ok well ive turned it on phew!, Theirs the tiniest hole where the spark occured bout the same size as a full stop

it booted with my 3.6ghz OC :s im gnna leave it running on prime 95 all night see if its ok

Leave it as is and put it through prime for a good 12-24 hours.

if it stays stable your a lucky chap and learn from your mistakes

Theoretically u`ve introduced 5/12v to the chasis, making the ground/0v equal that. *Hopefully* it can make the mobo behave as if the potential powering it is now 0v and it shutdown.

Ur problem would be if any abnormal current was introduced, but it doesn`t sound like it. Similar currents can be induced if ur heavily charged and play with the case. (very rare in itself)

lol I dropped a thumbscrew on the back of my GPU once... buggered the display right up.

lol, ive done similar things before, but ive been lucky it never shorted, its just a pain trying to find and get that screw out
