They do appear a little elevated but it depends on a few factors. I'm presuming you're using Core Temp as the temp reporting software? What are your ambient temps by comparison? You are getting close to summer and elevated ambient temps. Have you had to add voltage to keep it stable @ 3Ghz or is that stock volts? Is there adequate case ventilation?

I've got an infinity and the core's are all idling sub 40 @ 3.2ghz. My room is like a sauna also. I think the mounting of the scythes is the key thing. The intel push pins suck, I'm looking to mod it in this kind of fashion:

Linky

With a backplate and some bolts I think results will be much better and the mount much more dependable. I think mine comes lose in transit (car to uni and back etc) which is a pain.

Hope thats some help mate!

Our main rig here is at 3.6Ghz (Q6600) with an Arctic Freezer Pro, current idle temps after being on for the last 18 hours:

44

43

39

39

VID: 1.3125v

Have you tried reseating the cooler? What compound have you used and how was it applied?

no i havent reseeated teh cooler. it is so big that i am to lazy to even bother doing it. i guess i will though tomorow

i used as5, put some in the middle, and spread it with my finger in some saran wrap.

the chip has been folding for 2 full days now, (maybe 3) and the temps have gone up. Room ambient is also up a bit. 58/55/54/58

room is at 25 now

That does seem high.

Take a deep breath and reseat the cooler.

Don't spread the AS5 out though - make a thin horizontal line across the chip and put the cooler straight on top.

At stock it really should be much cooler than that. When you take the cooler off have a look at the base to see if its totally flat, if its not it could be worth lapping it.
