Decent Dual socket 771 ?
Thinking of a working project, something along the lines of twin xeons.
Would of course like the mobo to be clockable to a fair extent, and would like pcie2.0 (not 1.1) - and a UK purchase.
No special ram requirements please.
How the heck to u oc with 2 physical cpus anyway ?
Meh, appreciate any links and discussions.

Is it cos they`re a bit of an unknown entity to enthusiasts as they`re mainly server boards ?
Was wondering also with the sockets. Does a 771 work in a 775 or vice-versa (guess I could wiki that tbh) ?
Also do the 2 cpus have to be the same ?

771 won't work in 775 even though the pins are pretty much the same.
From what I see you need 2 identical cpu's... TBH, XS will have all the answers...
PM Movieman, he'll be happy to help, I think you don't even have to be a member...

I`ll check em out.
I mean u don`t necessarily need to break the bank to buy a xeon, that tbh *look* like it`d clock decently (obviously having not tried one of these mobos, I don`t know for sure)

Skull taril is pretty much the only real option isn't it? Few OC features built in to that.
As for OCing it works the same as normal as far as i can remember. Read something on it a while ago.
Just watch out for FB-Dimm needing mobos when it comes to modern dual CPU boards.

Yeah I seen an intel one with pcie 1.1 and not the memory I want to use, for obvious reasons.

That is one sexy board. Do i read that it will take two quads? That would be sweet. Takes x-fore and SLI as well, you could double up everything.
Oh, it has a warning for overclockers,
"Please note this motherboard has 2 x 8 pin ATX connections. If you intend to do some overclocking, it is recommended to connect both of these for stability"

Sounds good doesn`t it.
What problems are the memory going to cause anyways ? (1g ~ £35, cheapo @ Scan)
