Dont like to put a dampner on things but you might not be able to activate it for a couple of hours yet as Valve's european servers are down, see here...
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=19707
...unless you activated this morning before the crash that is like me
The game is really mad, must be careful not to finish it too quickly

Well mine activated first time yesterday at about 17:10. Played it for 20mins before I took me rig down to me mates....
ABSOUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!
I've never seen graphics as crisp and good... have everything turned up full whack, and not even a hint of slow down
Managed to squeeze in a good 3 hours last night... and will be staying in again 2nite to play
Also tested CS:Source online..... and it was like playing on a LAN
Well done VALVE!!!

Had it downloaded via steam for a while now....finally unlocked it yesterday but haven't had much time to play on it. Both HL2 and CS:S certainly LOOKED pweddy in the 20 or so mins i had with them. Doing coursework now though :-( so will have a good go later on....good thing about using the ATI voucher is that you can upgrade to the silver package for $10 so i'm using this time to download pretty much the whole Valve back catalogue!

Chapter 7 "Highway 17" I'm scared that I'll finish it too quickly, it's so adictive. Well I've come to a grinding halt at the moment, I seem to have come across a bug that alot of other people are experiencing aswell. The sound goes choppy along with the frame rate and then I end up looking at the desktop  Tried all the usual debugging stuff, driver updates etc but no luck. It's bad but good at the same time that alot of others are having the same problem maybe valve will release a patch or something. Until then I'll just have to keep myself amused with CS Source. Axers got a nice server where alot of guys from here play, youll find it at;

I've got a similar bug that affects me when I hit a loading point, although I never see the desktop (touch wood). The sound from the speakers hurts my ears ! So what is everyone running this at, I run 1280*1024 with 2*AA + TemporalAA and 2*AF smooth as silk on my 9700Pro. Good enough for me for now!

Had a copy waiting on the doorstep on Tues morning but until now haven't had time to load up and play,but will make up for it now.
Just hope the registration process isn't as long winded as i've heard,only on 56k you see.
Can't wait to get that crowbar out and start thrashing those leaping roast chickens.

There is a problem with the Audigy 2 and HL2 - it causes these crashes and occurances in the game. Some people have been able to get round it by disabling or reconfiguring EAX.
I'm not very far into it, I'm not very good at these games I have to say, and I've only just picked up the crowbar, and havent even seen a bird, let alone shot one out of the sky!
