Gnome is the window manager , it draws the User shell /Gui and provides a programming interface for other apps to draw Gui widgets (GNOME uses GTk opposed to KDEs QT)
Compiz is a 3d window compositor --- it drives all the fancy 3d effects etc
Awn is the gr8 little dock @ the bottom
Ubuntu 2007.10.18 is Ubuntu 7.10 (i just highlighted their nomenclature)
and on the right is the final part in the best south park saga EVER
