Server 2k3 Sharing?

Right, I want to share my storage drive because it has the family music albums on it.

So everyone wants to get to there music via wireless and stuff.

But Windows Server 2003 is a little more complicated to set up.. :eh:

I have got the drive to show that it is shared but when I try and access my PC and its shared stuff on another PC it asks for a password and username..

I dunno what the password is nor the username, because I didn't set them up!

Anywho, know how to do this? Thanks!

I`ve not tried it under a home setup, but isn`t it a case of creating user profiles on the 2k3 pc and allowing them the freedom to use the folder/sharing stuff.

Try the login u use on the 2k3, or the admin one. Then if u use something like drive mapping, I`m sure u can set it to use the same login each time.

If that is the case, how do I go about doing this?

I have found "Stored User names and Passwords" I made one.

I tried getting to the shared drive and the password and username wouldn't work.. :eh:

Send a message via AIM to FragTek Send a message via MSN to FragTek Send a message via Yahoo to FragTek
Go in to computer management, create a new local user, make sure to set a password.

Then on your folder sharing options make sure that your newly created user has access privileges.

Worth remembering that XP home doesnt have the ability to save network passwords, So to get round this you could create a bat file that maps to the network share and put it in your start up folder.

I've just been playing with XP MCE to get it to record to my raid 5 server. God it was a pain in the butt, If anyone wants to know how to do it let me know.
