The Buffalo WBMR-G54 is in the price range and seems to have a lot of features.
I use a WRT54GS (DD-WRT) for all my network firewall/routing and just use a inventel router set to DMZ to connect to ADSL.
The
ZyXEL seems to have 15 awards from various review sites and has its own OS (ZyNOS), some of the remote admin stuff ZyXEL do seems pretty excellent aswell.

As you only mainly use the router for gaming and downloading torrents, I'd guess you won't want to be going OTT with the configuration of the firewall and will probably mainly use uPNP, QoS & NAT.
The Netgear DG834G v3 is in the price range, but it doesn't support QoS
