TIP: Increasing Vista networking performance

Vista by default has some load balancing tech that although in large infrastructures will give the servers some respite from an avalanche of users requesting data is not really required for a home network where there may be less than 10 users per server.

I needed to do the following steps to get my network transfers to/from our torrent/media server to 9MB/s (opposed to 5)

Go to Start and in the search box type:

cmd [return]

In the commandline that appears enter:

netsh interface tcp show global [return]

look @ the congestion control provider if its not disabled then type:

netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled [return]

personally the best solution would not be to use vista but i require a driver 'feature' for my sound chip only present in vista (crosover freq adjustment)
