Intel's 45nm Xeon's Due Q3 2007
It appears that AMD's Quad Core Barcelona platform may have Intel a little worried. It appears that Intel are fast tracking their 45nm Xeon's, in an attempt to force AMD's hand. Are Intel safe this innings, or is there a genuine cause for concern? Feel free to comment below...

Interesting. I'm right in saying these Xeon's are a different socket to 775?

well i dont understand , intel have stayed for LGA 775 for long time while amd has change from 754 to 939 to 940 to am2 why is that and now intel is launching a new socket?

They aren't this is their server socket - Xeon's are server processors.

Dempsey cored Xeons were the first to get Socket J, also known as LGA 771. Mid 2006 iirc
