My choices:

Biggest flop: Sony PlayStation 3

Game Engine: Oblivion

Biggest industry changer: Intel C2D

Biggest Flop: PS3 / BluRay

Breakthrough: 8800 Series / DX10

Graphics: BF2142

Game Engine: Source Engine (Still the top engine out IMO)

Biggest Industry Changer: Core 2 Duo

Why DDR2? Now that all the main platforms use it, manufs are making it better and better. :)

How about predictions for 07?

Biggest Flop: BluRay (Still)

Breakthrough: K8L / R600 Possibly

Graphics: Crysis?

Game Engine: Source Engine (as it continues to get changed/optimized)

Biggest Industry Changer: Vista

name the biggest flop of 2006 : x2 (after witnessing c2d lb per lb), closely followed by FIFA07.

THe biggest breakthrough: Intels take on multiple cores (meh 8800 coming close, 2k7 will be better for it and all dual core thingies I hope as move stuff role off the line for them specifically).

the best graphics: pffft seen nothing extremely good, Flat Out 2 is nicely done. Madden looks nice, some things let it down tho. - defer on this one.

the best game engine: hmmm the newest unreal one, hard to say.

and the biggest industry changer: I`ll defer on this (I`d love to say wii, but all I`ve experienced of it is kids worried about looking kewl whilst trying to use one, instead of playing the freakin thing, in the shops - and of course I didn`t buy one :( )

biggest flop: ps3, what a friggin disaster!

biggest breakthrough: intel's core architecture

best gfx: still eq2 in my book, i dont even think a pair of 8800gtx's could run it smoothly on highest quality settings.

best game engine: source by far, decent quality and requires almost no resources in retrospect to the other high power engines.

biggest industry changer: wii, motion sensitive control is definately the new way of console gaming.

Biggest Flop: PhysX (despite enormous potential)

Graphics: Obliivion on PC, Unreal on 360 (Unreal not out yet in 2006 for PC)

Game Engine: Unreal - GoW ftw

Biggest Industry Changer: Core 2 Duo

Predictions for 07

Biggest Flop: Hard to say...hoping BlueRay

Breakthrough: DX10

Graphics: Crysis or UT2K7

Game Engine: Unreal

Biggest Industry Changer: Vista again...including DX10

Biggest flop: Call of Duty 3 or Physx card... (I knew it won't work, DX10 uses the GFX card for Physics)

Graphics: Oblivion or Call of Duty 2

Game Engine: Unreal all the way! (best engine ever created)

Biggest Industry Changer: Nvidia?

Negative, but Havoc have released an update to their engine. Having played Several games with the Unreal engine (that uses the PhysX middle-ware), you see the benefits of PhysX. Let's just hope for Ageia's sake that Havoc or Microsoft don't release an API that rivals PhysX!

I thought it was too expansive for what it does.

I don't need one so I will not be paying £££ for something I d not need. :(
