About Time (Define R3 Build)

Well, I have been wanting to upload my Define R3 build for some time but have never really had the time. Today I was looking at other peoples builds on the forum and decided to stop procrastinating and finally get some specs and picks uploaded.

I build this computer in July 2011 to replace my failing HP desktop. I have done some over clocking of the CPU and GPU to run some benchmarks but the system is normally running at stock speeds on the CPU and GPU.

This is the main computer that my family and I use on a daily basis. I wanted something very quiet and that is why I went with the Define R3.

I do a lot of 3D rendering and moderate gaming. Lately the only thing this computer has been doing is playing Sims 3. My wife is addicted to that game and can sit and play all day long.

Specs are as follows:

Intel Core i7-2600K Processor

MSI P67A-G45 (B3) LGA 1155 Motherboard

MSI R6950 Twin Frozr II OC

Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) Memory Model 996991

Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler

Fractal Design Define R3 Titanium Grey

CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX850 Power Supply

Corsair Force Series 3 120GB Solid State Drive

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

SAMSUNG Black Blu-ray Combo

I added one additional Enermax Magma 120mm fan as an exhaust out the back and moved the stock Fractal 120mm fan to the front.

Here are some additional pictures of the system.

Thanks, I was debating on whether or not to use the Define R3. I wanted a case that would help reducing the noise coming from my computer and after seeing all the good reviews that this case has gotten I decided to give it a try. I am very happy with the case; it works great for lowering the system noise.

Need advise on a fan controller. The only thing available in my local area is the NZXT Sentry 2 so I may be ordering something online. What is a good quality fan controller that has a flat front panel to accomidate the R3's door?

All of the Lamptron fan controllers I see on newegg have toggles or nobs that protrude out. I will not be able to use this style because of the door on my case. The Lamptron Touch looks nice and should work for me. Has any one used this controller?

very neat build m8! nice work

those noctua fans can't really match with any modded case unless it's a brown or beige themed project

The aerocool touch 1000 has gotten alot of good reviews.

question about the ram is it touching the noctua NH-D14 or is there a bit of clearance ?
