i have flashed the bios despite it already having the latest version (1102) already on. i have checked windows, amd overdrive, and asus pc probe ii and all are only showing five cores (core0,1,2,3,4) and the whole system is pretty recently purchased (ebuyer & amazon) except the hdd which is still full of life. any ideas why i have a pentacore and not hexacore? :S

It's okay guys, after three days a patch has downloaded and is seeing all six. But might be worth remembering this if you know someone else who has this issue with their system I was woken up by the neighbors screaming children blundering down the stairs, switched on the rig, then 'Installing AMD Phenom II X6 1090t Driver'. I had already installed the latest driver though so that makes no sense! Oh well, it's working now

I'd had it sat on my shelf in the box a couple months (the cpu) while i bought the other parts but this was the first time has ever been used. I built the rig, then my bro went through bios etc and put windows on for me (i was paranoid i'd screw something up). I did have 32-bit professional on the drive prior to 64-bit, but he wiped the drive before he installed anything new (inc new 64-bit OS).
Hope that made sense

Nah it's cool, is recognising all six now that the driver patch has installed. i did kinda say already. thought tho atleast if other oc3d members have this problem with their x6 chip then they'll know to wait out a driver update (i have no idea where it is on amd's website, windows did it for me).

All my cores were on when was showing five. It was windows not reading correctly.
