Hey, (Ignore title, accidently pressed enter while writing post) was just wondering about 3D. Is it really worth it? and is anything better than nvidia's 3D kit going to come out soon?
Also what is a TN monitor like compared to the apparently clearer IPS monitor? Also are the slow response times on IPS monitors actually noticeable while playing games?

Not sure about monitors and the PC industry but in the TV industry there is an agreement to use the active shutter technology as the standard for at least 5 years so that if you buy it, you wont have an obsolete set within a year or two.
Light scenes seem to be pretty much perfect from what I've noticed, but when you've got an image with both very dark and very light scenes then you can get cross talk (ghosting).

TBH the price of the kit is pretty good now. The price of the monitor you need isn't sadly.

I can't do 3D gaming with the glasses. I tried it at a kiosk and almost lost my lunch. Makes the decision easy for me! Not only that, but you lose IQ with 3D tech.

Not necessarily true.. With passive 3D you lose image quality to 540p x 2 but with stereoscopic it can still be 1080p.
Some content does look absolutely gorgeous but when the cross talk really gets going it's not so nice. Again though it really depends on the content.

I think NVideas 3D kits look impressive. 3D gaming sounds immense, you would be brought into the game more
I'm waiting for 4D (Smellivison)

The 3D is here to stay. The pron industry are using it - and as with all things in life, as soon as they're into it, it's a done deal.

OTA HD is also 1080P, but doesn't come close to a 1080P blu-ray in image quality. Resolution isn't the only determining factor in IQ. Bitrate, compression, etc. all play a part. I'm not saying that 3D can't have the same quality, but everything I've seen thus far, doesn't have the same IQ as it's 2D counterpart. This includes movies and games.
Edit: This isn't to say that what I have seen so far looks like crap, it's just not as good IQ wise.
