Did you position the brass mounting posts properly? If you think you did? not good enough. Get the board out. If things were fine before then it's likely by transferring it into another case you have a short somewhere.

Do you still have your original PSU? try that. Have you trapped a wire somewhere? look for that.

ETC. Retrace your steps, process of elimination.

Missing one or two out isn't the end of the world. Putting one where it shouldn't be is.

Take the board out. Visualise the holes on your board and give it a ruddy good looking over. Then, one by one start putting them in, maybe putting the board over them to make sure theyre in the right position.

Hmm.. that PSU doesn't sound very healthy. Is it still in warranty? Could've gotten an 850 Corsair and it would be more stable. You could try to RMA it, tell them about the fluctuations on the 5V rail etc.

if it cuts out again im going to refit everything get the other 2 motherboards mounts in and see what happens if its not fixed i might just put up with it and save up for a new mobo i was thinking of getting the Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 or the Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 Intel X58. thanks for the help everyone.

I had the same problem a while back and it was a faulty PSU. Put a new PSU in and problem solved!

*The new PSU was a Corsair

thanks everyone it now stays on for alot longer now switching off about once every 4 days and i think its going to switch off less and less until it stops doing it completely. I know for definite that it is my 5vsb is fluctuating too much and going above 5.25v and my psus safety precautions are kicking in and switching it all off before any damage is done so if anyone knows anything about it anything would help thanks.
