Corsair PSU's

Hello!

Okay, so I need to get this rig finished now, Battlefield 4 is coming!
I'm in need of a PSU, I'm going to stick with Corsair, simply because I have a Corsair case, I'll have Corsair RAM, I'll have a Corsair Keyboard etc. But I'll be honest, I don't know what to look for in PSU's.

I could whack in a 1200W and be done with it, but I'd like a bit of knowledge about how these things work, whats power efficient, what rails are etc. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Spec List:
Case: Corsair Obsidian 550D
Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 MATX
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K - Retail Fan but looking to upgrade to a H100i
RAM: Probably going to buy 8GB of Corsair Vengeance, but maybe Dom Plats
GPU: Single Nvidia GeForce GTX 770, maybe add a second for SLi later.
SSD/HDD: 2x OCZ Vertex 4.

I was gonna say either the 760i or 860i more than enough power with todays energy efficient components my 850 is overkill

Just realised the link you provided FTLN was of the 760/860i haha, just happened to be watching it already, cheers for that.

I'll just buy the 860i I think, should be plenty?

I'd go for the normal AX860.

I don't think there's much point in wasting the money in the 'i' features.

Also, the AX860's OEM is Seasonic whilst the 'i' version is Flextronics.

Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with Flextronics, but Seasonic have been proven to be one of the most reliable PSU manufacturers around.

Seems like a fair point jamesriley94, I used to have a Seasonic PSU, was it 420/450 back in the day? Was a good PSU for me.

Amazon has the AX760 currently going for £125, the 760i is £20 more and the same price as the AX860. Bit of a no brainer if you don't want the Corsair link stuff

Thanks for pointing that out Spiderz! Best I found it from component retailers is £169 for the 860i, I think the 760 was the same price!

Almost got me an AX860 last week, they dropped the 860 series to the same prices as their 760 counterparts. They seem to be the best PSU prices in the UK just now just not good for a lot of other things.

If you ever get a problem with that 860 though and you need to rma it then youll most probably get a 860i back.... Not that your likely to run into any problems though..

Ahhh, I was thinking it was something more scary, ripping it to shreds and stuff. :)

Why don't Corsair just make their own instead of re-branding. Little sods.

It's incredibly common - especially in the PSU market.

I'd much sooner have them rebrand other high quality units, than try and produce their own and end up with worse quality units.
